As a second generation immigrant of Nigerian and Filipino descent growing up in a small town in Southeast Louisiana, I struggled with finding literature about my heritage. I created Culture Chest to help children learn about themselves and the world around them!
A study by the Cooperative Children’s Book Center, School of Education, University of Wisconsin-Madison, found that only 14.4% of children’s books depicted characters from diverse backgrounds in 2015. While parents and educator may believe that learning about the world is important for their child’s development, they may not always have the time to research and source these activities. Culture Chest solves this need by delivering curated experience to your door every month.
